Pics, Jessie Bush (WeThePeople)

I've got a crazy week ahead of me. I've taken on a few modellings gigs which is a bit of a blast from the past for me, classic commercial gigs. I really do miss modelling, its pretty fun once you've got some experience and know how to adapt to each new team that you work with. This work ahead of me is partly from my new relationship with my photo agency, Mondo Digital - my agent mentioned that some clients had enquired to see if I was still working in front of the lens as a model, I thought, why not? So meanwhile I'm trying to create some good content for you, my dear readers... have you got  any ideas? For now I'm contributing this, 10 things you maybe don't know about me!

1. I'm turning 28 on March 29 - therefore approaching 30 pretty soon! I'm excited about being in my 30's because as I grow through my 20's I've learnt more about myself and the person I want to be, your 20's can be turbulent! 30 is really where it's at. Working hard and growing into yourself. I'm ready!

2. I'm Australian, my parents were born here, as well as my Grandparents. I even have some ancestors who were convicts! I'm often asked if I have some Northern European/Scandinavian blood in me and the answer is No - I'm all British when you trace my lineage back on both side.

3. I'm a proud university dropout! Haha! Not to be confused with failing, I was studying Commerce at Curtin University in Western Australia when I realised that finance was not right for me. A tough choice, but one of the greatest I ever made because it lead me on the path to my modelling career which in turn helped me find photography.

4.Those who have been following me for some time will know this one - my blog is kind of the story of how I learnt to be a photographer. I gain alot of experience through modelling and seeing other photographers work - but for the rest, I'm self taught - in both photography and editing. It's all about trial and error - you can see my first photoshoot with a model HERE.

5. I have one younger sister, her name is Chloe and we look nothing alike, she's shorter and has dark hair... in fact probably the only similarity between us is that we both love to travel! Miss her loads.

6. I don't do anything to my hair - EVER. My theory on styling it is,  wash it and comb it, let it dry and hope for the best. Sometimes I get a 50's curl, an 80's perm look or a 90's blow dry... and then sometimes something in between. Roll the dice! All depends on the weather and the water I wash it in - and how recently I've had a haircut.

7. I've been blogging since October 2008. When I started my blog I never knew anyone else that was a blogger - and it was years before I really discovered more bloggers in Australia. I loved being part of the community when I first started, it was so much fun to be connecting with fellow fashion lovers around the world - really encouraging and friendly. Alot has changed! Now this is big business, something I'm also very grateful for. To make a living from your passion is a dream few can achieve, thanking my lucky stars every day! Here's my first blog post EVER - snapped with a Sony CyberShot camera.

8. I used to be a sport addict, working out and playing sports was my life! I have done barely exercise in the last couple years and I'm truly starting to feel it on my body, a few aches and pains... I really need to hit up the pilates and the treadmill again! I'm pretty grateful to have been able to keep my weight down to a healthy size - which I attribute to listening to my body (not overeating) and having healthy diet principles - along with being very very busy!

9. I've mentioned this a few times on my blog but just to repeat - I'm from a very small town in WA  - a very large and sparsely populated state of Australia. Though my town in on the coast, I grew up on a farm and have a big extended family of cereal crop and livestock farmers.  The apple has really fallen a long way from the tree here! The fashion industry is truly a long step from my upbringing but I'll be forever grateful for my family and the grounding that growing up in such a place has lent me.

10. Finally - I'm gluten intolerant but always make attempts to prove that I'm not, resulting in stomach aches and complaints! Eating gluten free is so tricky when I'm travelling, I pretty much survive on a lazy girls diet of mozzarella and tomato, snow peas, prosciutto, boiled eggs, almonds and cappuccinos. Could be worse!

Hope you all find this interesting - and please if you have any tips on some content I can make for you this week I'd love to hear your ideas (remembering I'm a bit time poor!). Special thanks to talented fellow Aussie blogger Jessie Bush from We the People blog for the pics she snapped of me in NYC last September. Please check out her blog for some perfectly curated and beautiful shot streetstyle imagery.

Dragged up from the ages! I found this outfit post from Stockholm, shot at the end of August. One of the reasons I didn't post this was because I get a little nervous about showing skin and also that someone told me that they thought my outfit was awful - ouch!! But I've pulled these out from the depths of my hard drives because in the end - that feeble opinion is of no consequence to me - when I get dressed in the morning its a matter of instinct and I'm really not doing it for anything other than the love of styling. Sometimes I get it really wrong... and I mean WAY wrong (don't look through my blog archives...please!) but even then I own those little mistakes because thats all part of the fun. I just hope I never get caught taking myself too seriously on this matter - hooray for fashion!

Was supposed to write this up this post last night andautomate it for this morning but my sleepy brain is a terrible writer and makes so many typos and illegible sentences you might accuse me of being drunk, so it's up at 5.30am tapping away in the dark like a dedicated little elf, getting my post done before my shoot which starts at 8am (more modelling!). This slouchy and easy outfit is the epitome of stylish comfort for me - something I aspire to when getting dressed each and every morning. The proportions are a little awkward, another something I'm a fan of - a quirky edge. My jeans are perhaps a new staple for me, having spotted them in Cheap Monday in Stockholm last month I've barely taken them off. They are super oversized and I gotta say that they perhaps work best because of my 181cm frame. Being so tall was hard to embrace growing up, I remember standing next to my highschool boyfriend and slouching and hunching over trying to reduce my stature (i was almost this height at 14 years old) and always buying baggy trousers to wear, self conscious of my skinny and very pale legs. The grass is always greener! Thankfully a modelling career (what else!?) pretty quickly helped me gain appreciation for my height and somehow I've also managed to gain alot of girlfriends who are roughly the same height (Jess, Rebecca, Andy...).

I would also love to add a detail about my beautiful new hand made leather slippers by Feit, an incredibly cool Australian brand with a conscience, each shoe designed with sustainable numbers and made from fine italian vegetable leather - start to finish by one master craftsman. Feit are a brand I really want to support so I'll be sharing a bit more about their story soon on my blog!

Special thanks to Mira , one half of the talented duo behind Fellt's newest addition, 365, for helping me snap these pics!

I took these images as part of a job I attempted to do early November, trouble is Nicole and I only had mere hours to shoot and couldn't get the required content done in time - leaving these images for our own use. Nicole is not only a great friend but a true blogger muse to me, such a talent and so hard working - and of course a rare beauty with a unique sense of style.

Even though I never managed to get enough pics to complete this editorial I'm glad to share these few and so hope Nicole and I can score some precious time in the future to shoot again!

From one blogger muse to another, presenting a beauty editorial with the stunning Sara Donaldson of Harper and Harley renown. Snapped just this morning while we enjoyed a coffee and shopping hang out session, I'm very grateful to have the scored the time to lense one of my favourite Aussie beauties.

I guess here would be a nice opportunity  to talk a little about my camera and the ideas I employ to shoot these images. As mentioned in my bio on the homepage of my blog - I use a Canon 5D Mk III and 90 percent of the time I'm using a magnificent 85mm 1.2 fixed lens. As I am self taught, I don't really have loads of experience using other equipment than my own. I only use fixed lenses, which has taught me to be nimble when shooting, to look through the view finder and move around to learn what makes a good photograph. In a great shot, everything you see in frame should contribute to the effect of the image. Often space around the subject can be very  valuable in mood and ambience but do you really need those bins in the background to tell the story? For beauty I like to keep things simple - thus my passion for the 85mm lens, which is masterful for using the technique called bokeh. Bokeh is that dreamy blur in the background of these shots, highlighting the simple beauty of my subject (Sara). This lens is an absolute dream - especially in low light where it doesn't miss a detail. I feel a mistake a lot of photographers make is, focusing so much on finding light that they forget to utilise the beauty of the shadow. A good image should have depth, even a beauty shot, a lovely wrap of light around the skin to show the shape of the face. Nothing more plain than flat light! The other technique I've used here is employing movement to ensure my images are unposed and natural. I always ask my subjects to move like they are being filmed and snap thousands (yes that's right) of shots to ensure I capture that one perfect beautiful moment. Being that the 85mm is great in low light, I can always use a fast shutter speed when shooting so I don't miss a beat to the blur. So simple! And so effective. Hope this helped some of you! xxx

Screen-Shot-2014-01-26-at-10.58.22-AM

One of the most unexpected perfect of being a fashion blogger is the number of talented fashion illustrators up for representing my likeness. Here we have the incredible Jamie Lee Reardin drawing up my 'Beetlejuice' outfit I wore to Aussie fashion week last year. This series is commissioned as part of the new launch of Muse Style, a site which allows readers to shop direct from streetstyle looks of selected 'muses' including yours truly, along with my friends Tiany and Rebecca and a load of top stylists and streetstyle icons from around the world. Check out what MuseStyle here - more on this to come soon!

Anyway, today is Australia Day down under which traditionally represents an afternoon evening of drinking and eating too much, along with fireworks - somewhat like NYE round 2. Australia Day commemorates the arrival of the first fleet Down Under, from way back in 1788 ( also referred to as Invasion Day). For me its all about catching up with friends in the sun and celebrating life and diversity - so cheers to that! Hope all my fellow Aussies out there have a good one xx

I always vow to set up a load of posts before getting on a long haul flight (or two!) and fail to do so. The following days, drugged with jetlag, I'm never organised enough and I end up having a blog hiatus... This is 2014 however, and I really swear I'm turning over a new leaf. Loads of content! More stories! I know what content I would love to read from my fellow blogger friends so my goal is to create that. So here's a new kind of post - an 'inbetweener'. Settling in here, no glamorous edited images (would have been better taken with my camera but I've no time), just a couple blurry  iphone shots and a bit of an update. I've always liked these kind of posts from my friends so I figure I'll give it a go too.

Anywho, back at the airport - my home away from home. This time my sojourn is driven by the international fashion weeks - which have been really tough to plan so far because jobs always get confirmed at the last moment. I THINK i'll be doing just Milan and Paris - but I haven't confirmed the work. I wish I could spill more details but I always think that by announcing something before it's truly locked in you're shooting yourself in the foot. Either way its photography gigs or just my own projects, some exciting some I hope! The fashion industry runs all things last minute - I suffered the same affliction as a working model - never knowing day to day let alone week to week. So now - off to Stockholm! A little R&R (and maybe a ski trip) before diving into the real fashion circus. I'll always love the chaos, I think I was made for it. Moving constantly and living from a suitcase, adapting to new surrounds at every new arrival. Wouldn't change it for the world!

Will keep you posted on the where and why, once I know!

Meanwhile, how nice is my new  MAC lipstick? A duty free treat for me - Diva, matte. Another new years resolution, wear more lipstick. Glam time!

Time to board!! x

Urgh... I'm so embarrassed. My last post I vow to post more frequently and then low and behold, here's another blogging hiatus. The time just races by so quickly - and I blame jet lag. The days melt into one another, I feel like as I get older and older it's harder to adjust each time. I have a few techniques - but the best one to use, if you can access it, it to surround yourself with interesting company to keep you awake. I've had a few opportunities to post but each time I've been tired as hell - and I'm such a terrible writer when I'm tired. Too often I'm guilty of racing to arrange posts in the wee hours of morning - to the detriment of real connection in my prose. It's 10am here in stockholm and I've been awake now 4 hour hours, alive and kicking. I could rant for hours! Many people ask me the secrets to being a successful blogger and as far as I've learnt - its all about being informed, true to yourself and making a connection with your readers. That's what makes a content on a blogger's site so unique from a magazine or news site - that personal approach - where you feel you're part of a conversation and a personal story. There are many blogs I follow, not because of their unique style or photography - rather because when you tune in, its more like spending time with a friend. It's easy to understand why, in the modern world where real personal connections are drowned out by digital chatter, a real story can resound just a little bit further.

So Stockholm! I'm camping here a couple weeks before embarking on my European fashion week quests, still hanging around waiting to confirm a few things but excited to get among the mix. Pretty stressed about what I'm going to wear though, still rolling with one suitcase - every piece of clothing I currently have with me has already been shared on my blog or social media. I actually have had the same story for every fashion week I've attended, somehow I've just managed to make do each time. I usually don't plan my outfits because in spontaneity  you tend to take more risks (and make more mistakes) and its so much more fun. The trouble with the season happening in the colder months is the coats... you need a few of them to work in a bunch of different looks and I certainly can't afford to bring along a second suitcase each time to fit them all in (nor can I afford to buy so many of them!). Having too much luggage really weighs you down anyway... so maybe don't expect much more than a good mix and match session from me this time... and on that point - REPRESENT! We should all be re-wearing pieces regularly, setting a good example. I only wish I have the chance to fish my red Acne coat out of storage....

Loving getting some pictures in the snow! Though it presents an unusual challenge, with the light source coming from the ground and the sky... I think too much snow makes the image look a bit flat. More practise needed...

Flashback to an outfit I wore during Paris Fashion Week - one I didnt have a chance to feature on my blog but I've seen pop up here and there on some streetstyle sites so I thought maybe its worth borrowing an image to put on my blog. Paris last season, the final city on my fashion week tour, left me pretty exhausted. Would the streetstyle posse hold it against me if I decided to wear uggs and a tracksuit for my last few days of shooting? I was almost of the mindset it would be worth the comfort...

Anyway - for the upcoming PFW I'm looking to be well rested and I have grand plans for some personal projects I hope to be realised. An essential ingredient to the success of this project is SNEAKERS. So happy they are trending right now because as a photographer, being nimble is real asset especially if you're like me and only using fixed lenses (no zoom). Always feels like the right idea when I run out the door, dressed to the nines, heels and all - until I arrive at midday with extreme pain in my feet, still bouncing around in the crowd trying to get the right shot. Let's hear it for sneakers!

Counting down now, two days till I head to Sälen for a ski trip with friends - the first I've had in 13 years. A bit nervous about hitting the slopes after such a long break, I like to think I'm pretty adept at sports but as you get older you lose the fearlessness of your youth - and the flexibility in your bones! Fingers crossed you won't see me in crutches before the weekend. Hoping to get plenty of great pics while I'm bailed up in this snow covered town but don't expect fashion inspiration - keeping really warm is all about practicality. My friends up there also have a GoPro camera so I hope to borrow it and make a cool video to share with you all. It's been too long since I dabbled in the moving pictures!

Thrilled to be posting this - my first major snow day on Stockholm. It's incredible how the snow transforms the city, filling a cloudy day with fresh light. I'm standing here in front of  Karlsberg Slott (Palace) built in 1630 and currently used as a military facility. I have a certain affinity for castles, I love their grandeur, romance and history. Would love to do a tour one day of some of the most beautiful castles and palaces of Europe - particularly Germany and France. My favourite is Mont Saint Michel, on my bucket list - this place is  fairy tale made to life!

I'm spending a cosy morning inside before meetings this afternoon, sitting here drinking cinnamon spiced hot malted milk and getting atop a mountain of emails. I've  been listening to the soundtrack for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty which is full of soothing indie sounds. Simple things in life are always the best! Making the most of these little pleasures is one of the secrets to happiness right? My friend Jessie (We The People) told me today that winter suits me, she's right. It's my season.

Another thing making me smile of late are my new boots from Aussie owned  brand Feit. I was introduced to the brand a few weeks back by Paul Wilson, soon to be filling the role of Brand President in NYC. One of the cool perks of being a blogger is not only having the chance to work creatively with brands but also to support new and upcoming labels. I'm excited to share Feit with you all because here we have a brand with a conscious - each pair of shoes is made with care by one master craft mans, from start to finality - then numbered, dated and signed. Made in sustainable numbers from vegetable leathers, no chrome or chemicals are used in the tanning process and the foot bed is made from cork - keeping the final product in as natural state as possible.  On top of this, the boot in particular is super hard wearing - I can tell already I'm going to own and wear these for years and years to come.  I could even go as far as to say the boot is warm enough to wear without socks! Can you tell I'm in love? I'm taking names and kicking ass in these boots. Would be kinda lost without them here in Sweden too.  #haventbeenpaidtosaythis

Quick post before jumping on the train and heading north to Sälen - on a ski trip with friends. Can't wait! And a great distraction from NYFW which I am obviously not attending...

Here are a few of my instagram highlights from the last few months. Really want to try and throw one of these in my content more regularly because it adds to the story of my everyday life (with pretty filters yay!) and my whereabouts. Here we have pics from Esperance, Sydney and Stockholm (ive been here about a week now) and of course most of my images are just scenery and stuff I've eaten - sorry thats just what I like!

Strange thing about instagram is that there's a fine line between an account thats personal and an account thats business and designed for mass appeal. I gotta say mine is a bit of both, obviously my blog is a business now - even though it's all my creative ideas and style I'm still using it for my income so at some point you need to try a bit harder to make things bright and polished - my instagram account is the same. It's a painting of my lifestyle but obviously I'm not posting pictures of myself sitting on the couch in the dark with my bed hair and skeleton onesies because thats just not what people like (trust me, I've tested this). So - your images need to bright and clear, with interesting detail. Also try and be consistent with the kind of filters you use. Even though I'm not so talented at employing this technique, most of the bloggers I know who are 'good at instagram' have a kind of connecting palate and theme when you look at the homepage of their accounts. For example - check Rebecca (muted, pastel - sometimes monochromatic) and Nicole (vibrant, colourful and clean). This all being said - instagram should be fun and your account should be true to yourself and not a copy of what others are doing. I think we're all probably guilty of getting a little over-inspired when it comes to adopting particular formulas on this social medium. To be honest I think the most fun I have on insta is on my top secret private account (don't go searching!) where I mostly put up pictures of cats and selfies with various animals I meet on my travels. Friends and family only! I don't need all of you to know that I'm secretly a moron with a twisted sense of humour.... :)

I'm loving this skirt - its from ASOS and didn't cost me much so I hope it lasts because it feels like a new classic - working the trans-seasonal looks!  Found this spot on a meeting run through Södermalm a couple days ago, with a beautiful foggy view over Stockholm. I initially thought it was the same spot that Andy was a couple weeks back - but it turns out mine is just better fence and worser view... You would kinda think i'm not warm enough in this attire but you would be amazed how much cashmere and shearling keeps out the chill. Investing in quality counts in the cold! Geeky puffy headphones keeping me both entertained and my ears warm, my vanity won't allow me to wear a beanie when my hair is up because I look bald underneath.

Typing this post while sitting in long underwear, in a gorgeous chalet style apartment in Sälen, a ski resort town in the middle of Sweden. Tried my hand at skiing today and I'm completely useless - but in my defence my friends took me straight up to a medium difficulty slope and it scared the bejesus out of me. Would have been better to start off small! Tomorrow I hope to start on the kiddie slopes to get warmed up, fingers crossed I don't carve a path through a posse of toddlers... and now as I'm sitting here I feel a rising soreness in my legs so maybe I won't even be able to move tomorrow. Currently in the process of editing a video for Instagram of me falling on my face for your enjoyment. Maybe I'll be more skilled when it comes to après-ski - I do love me some Irish Coffee and that tasty hot chocolate with that minty liqueur shizzle. I know I can be good at hitting that up!

Was gonna edit out that piece of rubbish in the fourth shot and then I thought, meh, maybe i'll just shut my computer and watch some winter olympics instead. ;) x

Its been such a long time since I shot a beauty post... just tried searching for some past editions but couldn't find any. I remember one such where I sat a Sony Cybershot on the bathroom window and put it on auto shoot, snapping one image at a time. Needless to say I wasn't exactly achieving this kind of quality. I'm not really going to keep up the beauty posts because I'm extremely minimal when it comes to make-up and a beauty routine. Less is more for me - I've always found a heavy make-up look detracts from natural beauty. I really love a dark lip though - and this one from MAC is just brilliant. I don't have a lip brush or a liner so its pretty tricky to get the edges just perfect - and forget about eating anything at all when you're wearing this look. Sometimes a bit of starvation is the sacrifice for sexy drama, no?

Meanwhile - how fucking magical is this surround?? Sorry to hit up the expletives here  but seriously, its one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen - Sälen in the mid west of Sweden. Its cold, obviously, but the swedes have a famous saying 'there's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing.' so I'm wearing the puffiest, warmest jacket I could find (at the sportswear outlet store, I'm not in the market for a Moncler) and I'm toasty warm. As long as there's no wind it's fairly pleasant anyway. I got to try my hand at skiing (you can see my attempt HERE) and this afternoon I'm going to build a massive snowman! So excited. Being in a snowy place is loads of fun. Not really missing NYFW at all.......

Another detail here in these images is my delicate bracelet given to me by my friend, hair and make-up artist Charlotte Blakeney. The pair of us have known each other for years, having worked together on many gigs while I was modelling and now Charlotte has started her own jewellery line, By Charlotte, filled with precious and delicate gold, silver and rose gold pieces. My bracelet here is a special Valentines day edition, 18k gold plated, inscribed with the word 'Loved'. You can treat yourself (or hint at your man) this Feb 14 and get your own precious reminder - you are loved! I'm excited to share these pics with your and support my talented friend. :)

It's not really simple to take good pictures while it's snowing. The cloud is so heavy and light is so flat, it's not really very flattering when you're standing out in the open and the falling snow makes it tricky to focus the lens. Still, you can't deny the romanticism of the scene. I didn't really pack much you might deem outfit worthy for Sälen, except this summery long dress from H&M which doubles as a feature piece in a winter ensemble.

I'm leaving Sälen this evening and I'm more than a little sad to go - its been a great distraction from missing out on the NYFW festivities. I've seen snow a few times in various places around the world... a tiny bit in Tokyo, some in Beijing and Shanghai, a load in NY last fashion week and then I've also visited ski fields in New Zealand and Australia - and yet nothing I've seen has ever compared to this. Mountains of snows!! Piled up as large as a house on the side of the road and metres of puffiness all around. I have friends here and have gratefully been loaned some ski gear - which has meant I've taken more than a few diving leaps into piles of fluffy snow, thrilled like a little kid, protected in my super warm suit. Snow is so beautiful and so much fun! I swear I'm built for the winter months, I've no problems with the cold and I love being cosy.

I've got a busy week ahead preparing for my sojourn to London for fashion week. I love London, having lived there for a few months while modelling I kinda know my way around fairly well and am pretty savvy when it comes to utilising the tube - it's a city I really feel comfortable in. This time I've scored a great apartment through Airbnb thats close to the centre and museums so it'll be a good respite to check some tourist destinations between shows. Can't wait to get some real fashion on my blog too! Missing a bit of trend influence on  my site. Coming soon!!

A little heartbroken to have departed from the winter wonderland that was  Sälen but surprised upon my return to Stockholm, today reached a balmy 5 degrees! By way of comparison, it's so much warmer that socks need not apply... Maybe I'm exaggerating here but still, It's the warmest I've felt since arriving. Took the day for errands and some retail therapy and now I'm sitting on the couch, 8.40pm and I can feel my eyes burning - I want to sleep! I promised myself I wouldn't be caught writing posts in a sleepy state because I can't write much of interest. So for now perhaps I'll post these pics - and if I'm feeling chipper in the morning after my email session I'll fill in some more thoughts.

Pretty comfortable to say this is the worst video I've probably loaded onto my blog (an according to youtube stats, this is my best) yet I'm still throwing it up here. I love making the videos, so half of the reason I've put this one on my channel and am posting it is because my blog, though public and part of my career, will always be a bit of a diary. Even if I decide to give it up one day for whatever reason - I'll always have it as a huge repository of thoughts and memories.

This video was supposed to be shot on a borrowed Go Pro video camera (that didn't end up working) and my own SLR - but once I arrived in Sälen and got involved in the snowy sports and festivities I realised that lugging an expensive camera was going to hinder the experience. It also snowed a whole lot which put my equipment at risk of damp damage. So here we have a video shot entirely on an iphone 5. Some parts are worse than others, the bits of footage shot at night - and then some which were filmed portrait style and then cropped to fit. I could watch this a dozen times - so please excuse my self indulgence here as I share one of my few experiences with a whole load of snow and skiing. I couldn't get enough.. even though I kinda suck at winter sports.

Look at me go! It's a bombardment of outfit posts. Can you tell I love dressing for winter? It's the layering, if you really plan your wardrobe well theres so much room to mix and match and get creative. That's why I'm super excited for the weekend to come, London Fashion Week... though I'm just checking the forecast now and according to one website we got the WW3 of weather coming. Great. At least its going to be warmer than Stockholm!

I'm really loving being in Europe, when I consider my travels here I get a rising feeling of excitement in my chest - its the romanticism, all the cities are just so beautiful, steeped in history and culture. Everywhere you go its super easy to find romantic locations and unlike many, I'm a fan of cloudy and moody lighting. I'm just supposed to be living here! Planning my visa when I get back to Australia in March and then its finally a finality, I'll be alot more permanent... though you'll be forgiven for thinking I've been that way already. Australians get 90 days every six months in Europe under the Schengen agreement and the last three 6 month periods I've used up almost every day available. I've even waited in countries like the UK and Croatia just to save some days out of the 90 and re-enter later when I need to. Does that make sense? Doesn't really to me either. Australia is practically England in the desert anyway, we should be able to stay as long as we like! Boo!!  Shouldn't be a problem to get a Working Holiday Visa though... the most terrifying part of it will be handing over my beaten up passport for a few weeks. I need that thing close to my heart at all times!! Travel addict for life. It's expensive.  :S

Hope you all can appreciate my wearing a skirt today. I wear them fairly rarely on my blog and its always some of my most popular posts ever when I do. I resent that! Haha ;) I have a question for you all though... in winter, do you have to wear black tights? I always find patterned and coloured tights so garish and hard to wear... I need some examples of how to do it well. Your help would be appreciated!

Untitled-2

I've been blogging since October 2008 - and what a ride it's been. My site has been in constant evolution, those of you who've followed me for some time might remember a time where I barely post any pictures of myself, only model tests. For a while I didn't really post at all - and then for some time I was posting from London during FW, whilst working as a model and represented by Models1. I'm pretty sure I was using my Nikon D60 at the time - but by some of these shots you'd be forgiven for thinking I was using a potato. Clearly NOT having aspirations of becoming a photographer here...

Damn I was thin! You can tell I was exercising a load in preparation for LFW, though throughout my career even with my stature I wasn't ideal for catwalk because I'm quite broad and athletic compared to other models and I didn't really fit the samples. Glad I don't have to work that hard anymore. Life isn't as fun.

So these pics, embarrassingly dark, blurry, horribly framed - are what I posted up on my blog the first time I attended LFW. I only booked about 5-6 shows, the hottest ticket being for Aussie designer Josh Goot, a highlight of my career. Also included, me posing with Alan Carr backstage, some casting outfits  and hanging with a friend/model and some horrendous hair and dark make-up look for some show I don't remember.

Did you really need this? Well the weather was awful yesterday here in London and I couldn't really shoot - so you got this instead.

Sincere apologies. ;)

Where does the time go? I feel like a moron missing so many days without posting - but as I've mentioned before, I don't like to post when I'm tired and London Fashion Week was filled with catch up with friends and meetings and running between shows. Means I got loads of amazing content but my poor blog was left waiting... also my instagram! Sometimes when I'm busy looking through the lens of my beautiful Canon I forget that my insta deserves some attention too.

So I'm posting this from back in Stockholm, landed in late last night with another week here to go and then straight back into Paris. What to wear!! Arghh! Somehow I always manage to pull together pieces at the last minute. I'm a perennial 'fluker' - just like these images, which were snapped in a hurry and turned out lovely despite the boring background and the insane gale that was blowing me down the street. Got pretty lucky with the light. You can tell a little in the background of the beauty shots that the sun in out on the opposite side of the street therefore that building there is reflecting soft light onto my side creating and amazing wrap of light. The wind really did great things for my hair making it all 'piecey' and voluminous. Now that's called serendipity!

I found this vintage trench coat in Stockholm at a place in Vasastan and I'm OBSESSED. All about the nineties shape and the bright clean hue - not to mention that it's in perfect condition. Hoping to wear it as a dress in paris, without the collar which is actually clipped on with flimsy hairclips and snaffled from my red Acne coat from last winter season. Adore my new flats given to me by Jimmy Choo - I wanted to wear them everyday but as it is with patent shoes, you need to show some love and take the time to wear them in before you traipse around one of the biggest cities in the world all day. Blisters are not a girl's best friend.

Can't wait to share more of my fashion week content including loads of streetstyle.

I always feel like a bit of a moron trying to describe the style and aesthetics of a fashion show, searching for the right words to describe things - it just doesn't come out right! Clearly I'm not meant to be getting into high fashion journalism... but what I can say about the incredible Burberry fashion show is about the dream editorial I've love to create with the collection.  A story, set somewhere along the silk road in the middle of China, a beautiful Asian model couple and a vintage rolls royce stacked with trunks, old fashioned driving glasses and gloves. Maybe a few camels neatly propped in lines. Fashion stories don't have to be realistic - its more about a high glamour idea, an exotic location and gorgeous faces. One day I'm going to become big enough and experienced enough to actually pull one of these ideas together - for now I'm content with my imagination and my gratitude to the Burberry team for extending me an invite to the show.

Hope you like my pics!
