Outfit-30b

Presenting another outfit post from London, some of you might have seen from my instagram. The top is just a shirt and I'm wearing a fine cashmere sweater underneath which is a bit of an indication of how unseasonably 'not incredibly freezing' it is. Kinda need the mittens though, its amazing how much warmer your feel if you take care of your extremities - something I've had to learn pretty quickly during my stays in Northern Europe. I really loved wearing this ensemble but I just soooo wish I had sneakers that worked (not unlike these white ones that arrived today) or maybe light grey gloves and booties. I tried to tie the boots with the dark lip and mittens. Sometimes things work, sometimes not - as long as you feel good wearing it thats all that matters!

Oh yes thats right. Stylish, handsome boy fest is happening right here, right now. Starting out with gorgeous duo (no you're not seeing double, that is in fact, MODEL TWINS) Jacobo and Nicolas Solis - who I discover through social media, bonding over a totally rational fear of the zombie apocalypse. These lads hail from Spain, now based in London and represented by Berta Models, I just love their dreamy, wide set and smiling eyes and perfect facial structure, not to forget mentioning their super cool haircuts. Wah! Someone book them for a Prada campaign!!  Was so delighted to run into these two outside the Topshop show. It's always strange have buddies on social media and then meet in real life… you kinda never know what to expect. They are even more handsome in person, win for me and my camera :)

Also picture here a random posse of super stylish guys - kind of reminding me of a similar group of dudes I discovered in Paris last fashion week .

Recently found another blogger/photographer imitating one of my editing techniques  and became pretty furious…. I mean, how dare they!?  On a moments (or an hour, am only human) reflection and I reconsidered my reaction - of course imitation is the highest form of flattery right? Then again , maybe take another step back and consider the famous quote -  "All my greatest thoughts were stolen by the ancients." (Ralph Waldo Emerson) -  Meaning, we are all learning and being inspired by our experiences past and present - and what really counts is being true to yourself and your own ideas, sharing what you've learnt and what you love, eyes focused on your own journey rather than of another. Subscribing to a philosophy like this means working with passion and conviction and even if what you do doesn't inspire others - it can certainly give you the success that only comes with doing it for the love of the thing. That's what blogging should be about. Recently I've heard much discussion about what makes a blog successful and I can't really think of any better reason than individuality. Make sure that the only place you can find YOUR content, YOUR personality and YOUR ideas is right where you share them.

EDIT - Sorry I was a little unclear here, I didn't mean to suggest that I had invented the technique - its really an old idea that I used in a fairly unique context - and what I additionally wanted to suggest by using that quote by RWE  was that almost all ideas were used somewhere in the past - thus my initial reaction needed to be considered. Whereever you get your inspiration, as long as you make it a part of your own creative fabric, make it part of your individuality - then you're gonna love what you do. That's what makes a good site interesting.

Anyway, this is the look I wore on my last day in London for Fashion Week. People would exclaim when they approached me "Wow that knit is huge!!". That's a compliment right? The bigger the better :)

Here comes the first in a series of images from my street style coverage at LFW. There's always so many photographers outside the shows - and you know that they are their for the love of the thing. Personal style has always been a fascination of mine, I really love seeing the way different people interpret trends or don't even roll with trends at all - some are just beating their own drum! Either way, personal styling is some kind of art form, all about co-ordinating colours and silhouettes and textures , most often the most unexpected combinations work the best. I also love seeing people mix high end designer with high street and vintage - and then those who come without labels at all - and still totally kill it! What counts is not letting 'fashion wear you'. You gotta own it!

More to come on this! x

Currently packing my bags for PFW, pretty excited because I have some REALLY fun pieces to wear from the likes of Stella McCartney and Acne - Lucky me! Quickly posting up these couple snaps I took of the Lainy Hedaya of Haute Inhabit, wishing I had more of a chance to shoot her because she's just so damn chic and has a particular mysterious beauty… I will hunt her down next NYFW.

Meanwhile, check out Lainy's blog!!

The Scene

Filming in much harder than taking pictures… well maybe its just that I haven't quite mastered how to use my lens on video, you really need to be on the ball and getting into the right spot. Glad I got the footage that I did though, allowing me to make my first foray into really capturing the scene outside the show.

A technical problem I'm having, obviously all this footage is in high resolution but when I upload it into youtube it's so blurry. Looks like I  filmed it with a potato. I really can't work out whats wrong after google searching some answers… does anyone know a solution for this? Would be grateful for the help! I thought perhaps it could be that it took around 8 hours to load the freaking thing into youtube using my brilliant hotel wifi connection. What is it with French hotels sucking at wifi?! For a blogger it's like having no water - no one wants to have to go all the way to Starbucks to drink water!!

Update: Ok maybe its just my youtube settings that's making it seem so bad - but I can't check because my internet is too slow when I update the the speed I can't view it. Can anyone confirm?

And now I need to check out of my room in 15 minutes to change hotels and I've sprayed my clothes all over the place. Gittin' to it!

Hope you like the vid!

Excited to present a new post featuring images snapped by street style photographer, Adam Katz Sindling  here in Paris a couple days ago. Very grateful to have these shots as I didn't have my dear Rebecca (Raspberry & Rouge) to help me document my outfit. I'm sure you can see Adam's talent here, taking but moments get to get all these shots. These days, when anyone can grab their hands on a pretty incredible SLR camera - there's still a defining quality in knowing the many variables and getting the right balance of settings, location, positioning, editing, cropping and understanding of natural light. There's literally hundreds of photographers waiting outside of shows, yet only a few can score that precious shot every time. Thanks again Adam! Check out his blog HERE or his work for W magazine HERE.

I don't really wanna do this kind of post right now but I don't really have a choice. Backed with loads of content from London and Paris, a messy apartment, bags to pack for another sojourn away. Currently typing this up at lighting speed before whipping around my currently unpacked suitcase from Paris to fly again from Stockholm to Lille.. got one hour to leave before I go and things are in a state! I just know I will hate myself if I don't get up some content… and still so much to do! I wish I could split myself into two people right now. One of those days huh? Yet so wrong to complain - I've never seen the french city of Lille and I'm off to work with an exciting brand which I can't wait to share. So here - some insta highlights from the last month or so… including my new favourite Adidas high tops (love the retro feeling of these puppies!), my geeky fun BikBok raincoat and pics from my trips to snowy Sälen, London and Paris. See my instagram for more details!!

Gotta run! Hope I don't miss my flight! x

Presenting one of my looks from PFW - since being in Paris I've already flown back to Stockholm, to Lille (France) for a job and then to back to Stockholm today… then I'm there for a week, back to Sydney for a week, then it's to Stockholm and Belgium and back to Sydney in time for Aussie Fashion week which starts on the 6th of April. Sounds exhausting right? Well it is. Am I allowed to say I'm feeling a little tired of travelling? Would kill to curl up somewhere with a cup of tea and a book somewhere, a bit of routine and regularity… maybe join a gym. I guess this is just a state of mind - no doubt I'll jump on the train this afternoon with the French countryside rolling beneath me and thank every power that be for my life and all its incredible opportunities. One of the reasons I haven't posted this past few days, needing just a bit of time to breath - just trying to keep on top of emails and juggling my schedule. I truly am lucky to have been able to really make something of a career out of my blog - but what about those days when you're down, when you don't feel like sharing or when you just have damn PMS?! One of my new years resolutions  was to write more and put a bit more personality into my prose - but who really wants to read… 'I've had a fashion overload and now I feel sad!' Kinda sounds likes someone has lost perspective no? Well I haven't, I just need a few extra hours sleep, a couple hours extra in my day - maybe a few extra litres of water and some vitamins (or spirulina - that stuff is the shiz!) and I'll be right as rain. Also - I miss my family!

Thanks for your patience with me! Love all of you for sticking around all these years xxxx

Currently working from some stuffy cafe in Charles De Gaulle Airport, got 4 hours to kill so I've been able to throw down these images from LFW, more street style. My fave shots are the ones with the beautiful preppy Asian girl (who is she?) and of course, my favourite Swedish babe, the eternally chic - Carolina.

Love shooting this! And so much more to come xx

Hello! It's me! Reporting from Stockholm but posting from Paris. I'm currently wearing a skeleton onesie so obviously not really suitable for blogging about anyway… or is it!? Maybe you should tell me! Haha! Well the surely the next best thing could be this Stella McCartney two piece tracksuit - something I wore with total confidence at PFW knowing I wasn't exactly rocking the epitome of 'Parisian Chic' but rather an ensemble that felt totally right for me. A good outfit should represent personal style and maintain enough comfort you could still climb a tree in it... Right!? Stella for the win!

It's a strange concept to dress up for Fashion Week. For an attending blogger, it becomes about sharing an aesthetic with those watching the fashion scene - and there's truly so many watching! The most entertaining part for me is really shooting, seeing how my favourite style icons interpret and challenge trends - even creating some news ones themselves. I also love sharing some ideas of my own - I've always seen dressing as a kind of recipe, where you can follow a formula or you can add something unique and hope that it works. It's also a big game of mix and match, I love throwing in vintage and cheaper pieces with the high end attire - or using some things I've had around for awhile. This coat for example - from H&M - and on repeat. As it should be!

I saw this video on Pedestrian.tv and had to share. At times it's a little awkward but watching it to the end I was grinning from ear to ear. Some of these couples look like they are meant for one another  - and I also know the first guy from my modelling days. This is the sweetest!

Congratulations to Tatia PIlieva for creating such a heart warming little film and highlighting the beauty of human connection.

Having a bit of a bittersweet day today here in Stockholm, I'm heading back to Australia tomorrow and for the first time ever it's not really feeling like I'm heading back home. I just love Europe! I'm the kind of person who has never feared change, rather, I have to have it! I love feeling like my life is constantly evolving and there's always something new in my future - so I don't really want to go back to Sydney this time! But I need to, for work and to tie up a million loose ends and arrange visas. Guess a little warmth won't kill me huh? I'm in Sydney for just over a week then a quick flight back to Europe for a job - then returning for Aussie fashion week! Now thats an event on my calendar that I'm really excited about! Really looking forward to getting seeing all my friends in a place I know well. Aussie fashion week always runs smoothly for me!

Anyway - sharing some more pics from LFW -  some celebs and my bloggers buddies Andy, Marie and Sania!

Hope you like!

The right thing to do with this post would have been to post the outtakes. All those moron in between pictures where I look like I'm trying to do a poo or engaging in an exorcism… but my pride got the better of me. Sorry to disappoint! This yellow raincoat did a whole load for lifting my mood on this rainy Parisian day (you can tell somehow right?) and it certainly brought a smile to the faces of a few of my friends too! Cheap and cheerful! And practical.

I'm in manic panic mode trying to get this post up - so there'll be no spell check, forgive me. I've got about 10 minutes left on my wifi allowance at Arlanda, about to jump on a plane to Sydney via Dubai. Thankfully I'm in a really good mood having enjoyed an exciting inbox check when waking this morning - love my emails! I never know what to expect. I also scored exit row seats so I won't feel like Gollum at the end of my journey. Hooray!!!

..which means I'm onto editing my Paris Fashion Week shots! I really want to put them up in one post bonanza but that wouldn't be wise. It can be tricky trying to get up content, procuring it out of nothing. Props to bloggers like Angelica who are getting sometimes up to three posts a day up! I'm really trying to get up more - it's just so time consuming. I always have ambitions to get a whole lot more work done than is truly possible, persistantly over extending myself and misgauging the time it takes to do things. At least I also know I'm not the only one!

I'm back in Sydney at the moment - but just for a week - before I head back to Europe for a job. More to come on that too! For now I'm listening to tunes and preparing for the week ahead, defiant against jet lag. 5 cappuccinos never killed anyone right?

Thanks for some of my favourite girls - Camille, Berta and Amber - for stepping into my frame and also to all the other lovely ladies for dressing to the nines for LFW!

Damn it. Another blogging hiatus. I hate myself for letting it slip a few days! Jetlag seriously, I just feel like it constantly gets the better of me - and never gets easier to manage. It's really only the journey to and from Australia thats a problem, practically flipping my sleeping pattern every time - and I'll have done it 3 times in a month. Not cool. For now I'm on top of it - after a spate of nights up late with only 3-4 hours, last night I mastered 10 hours like a boss. Back on schedule! So now I'm sitting on my bed steadily climbing a mountain of tasks and emails, feels good to cross a few things off the list. Trouble is - I have an AWFUL habit of pulling up dozens of tasks at once and just half finishing them all. Like right now - writing up this blog post and suddenly I'm like "oh! Need to send those receipts!" and next I'm neck deep in emails and flitting from task to task. I blame social media - now days have the attention span of a gnat (that's a flying bug, consider yourself informed) and get bored with anything that takes longer than half an hour. I socialise with a whole load of bloggers and pr types with my line of work - and we all seem to have the same horrible symptoms. For those who work in social media - its totally acceptable to be on your phone during meetings and lunches, to use it whenever you're in the company of others… in other words, we're all perpetuating our own addiction! And of course - its truly all part of the work we do to be using instagram, twitter, facebook, email, pinterest, blogger or a multitude of other platforms at all times - so there's no escaping it! To make matters worse I just started a NEW instagram account, specifically for my photography. You can find it if you search for it but right now I'm not gonna link it till I get more pictures up on it.

So on this topic lately I've been really considering self-improvement. I think its really easy for bloggers and other creatives to get stuck in a 'self-congratulatory' mindset and forget to improve and adapt. I've had my own setbacks and have felt I'm in limbo at times - and I've decided to expect more of myself and look to role models (hello Beyonce!!) and my successful friends for guidance. I read recently on a life coaching blog that you should keep three essential friends - one older and more successful who you can learn from, one equal who you can exchange ideas with - and finally one below you who you can coach and will keep you energised. Seems like good advice right? We're all capable of achieving more! So many setbacks we face are simply overcome with mental tenacity. I've recently re-made a commitment to exercise and good health (I quit drinking!) so that's one area I know I can do well in because I'm totally in control of the outcome. I also really want to find more ways to give back, its good for the soul. For the hardest thing at the moment is keeping organised and on top of my multitude of tasks - so trying to use Evernote more and more.  What do you guys do to stay motivated? What kinds of things drive you to succeed and achieve more? What kinds of things inspire happiness in your life? Who are your role models? I would really love to hear your thoughts!!

So enough with the rant - this is obviously an outfit post, so let's talk fashion. I'm obsessed with jumpsuit - which I was lucky to loan from Stella McCartney. Feels so freaking right and very Charlie's Angels no? Wish I had the spare cash to drop on it - but I want lenses and airfares. I wore this on my last day in Paris for Fashion Week. Feels like years ago already!

Checking In!

The days again slipping by me - not only the past week but the entire year! As we race into spring (in Europe) I can't believe how swiftly time goes past - or is this showing my age? When you're younger time goes on forever and summers last a lifetime. Sometimes I really miss days past where I had fewer responsibilities - like with my modelling career (which seems so long ago!) where all I had to do was check in each day and make sure I ate well and kept my body in good shape, pose around a bit at a photoshoot and then leave it behind at the end of the day. I didn't have people all over the world chasing me for email responses, I didn't have deadlines, I didn't have to write up pitches and come up with new ideas all the time, I didn't spend hours and hours each day editing, I wasn't expected to present stylish and well researched at events… and yet - I've come to learn that these things are the real privilege that comes with hard work and that taking on responsibilities are the stepping stones to the gratification that comes to with success. I once KNEW that it wasn't worth trying so hard because it wouldn't get me so far anyway and that what I had was already good enough. Now I know it's those self imposed beliefs that prevent me from achieving real greatness, that the difference between me and those who I looked up to was just the ability to try harder and persevere through trials. So onwards and upwards! Exciting things to come... Particularly my birthday which is tomorrow ;) hehe
